Exotic Engram is an Engram that can reward Exotic weapons and armor.

Acquisition
Focusable
When obtained from the following sources, an Exotic Engram will be stored in the character's Engrams inventory. Master Rahool can decrypt it for free into a random Exotic item, or focus it at a higher cost in order to obtain a specific, previously obtained armor item.
- Random world drops when completing activities or killing enemies;
- Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit weekly challenges (complete 3, 6, and 9 ritual activities);
- Season Pass rewards, from both the free and paid tracks;
- Vendor reputation reset rewards, after resetting at least once, from the following vendors:[1]
- Banshee-44, Commander Zavala, Lord Shaxx, The Drifter, Saint-14, Lord Saladin (The Tower);
- Note: Tower vendor reputation tracks are set to zero at the start of each season.
- Xûr (Xûr's Treasure Hoard in Eternity, up to 5 resets);
- War Table (H.E.L.M., requires Season of Defiance Season Pass);
- Sonar Station (H.E.L.M., requires Season of the Deep Season Pass);
- Ritual Table (H.E.L.M., requires Season of the Witch Season Pass);
- Spirit of Riven (H.E.L.M., requires Season of the Wish Season Pass).
- Banshee-44, Commander Zavala, Lord Shaxx, The Drifter, Saint-14, Lord Saladin (The Tower);
Auto-Decrypt
When obtained from the following sources, an Exotic Engram will automatically decrypt into a random Exotic item:
- Purchased from Xûr;
- Possible drop from Paraversal Hauls;
- Solo Legend and Master Lost Sectors;
- Rare drop on Legend, common drop on Master.
- Armor slot dropped rotates daily between Helmets, Leg Armor, Gauntlets, and Chest Armor.
- Drops will prioritize unobtained Lost Sector-exclusive items. After unlocking in Collections, Lost Sector-exclusive armor can drop from other Exotic Engram sources.
- Nightfall strikes;
- Uncommon drop on Hero; common drop on Legend, Master, and Grandmaster.
- Vex Strike Force Public Event on Neomuna.[2]

- We have added Exotic focusing options to Rahool:
- Standard Decryption: Any Exotic engram can be decrypted into a random previously owned armor piece for free (current behavior).
- Advanced Decryption: An Exotic engram can be focused into any armor from a specific expansion for a small cost. You must have previously acquired all Exotic armor for your class from an expansion to use this option.
- Precision Decryption: An Exotic engram can be focused into a specific piece of armor you have previously acquired for a higher cost.
- All Exotics from any source should now drop with higher average stats, and more frequent spikes.
- Rewards for the Crucible Playlist Challenge, Weekly Strike Challenge, and Weekly Gambit Challenge have been changed to a Powerful focusable Exotic engram.
- The following Exotic engram rewards have been changed from auto-decrypt to focusable:
- Season Pass paid and free tracks
- Vendor reputation tracks (after the first reset)
- World drops
- We have added Exotic focusing options to Rahool:
