Classes in Destiny 2 are the character types chosen during character creation which determine which Subclasses can be accessed by a given character as well as what Armor pieces and class-exclusive Swords can be worn or wielded by that character. Like in the first Destiny, there are three classes in Destiny 2: Titan, Hunter, and Warlock.

Titan[edit]

Solar Subclass Sunbreaker
Arc Subclass Striker
Void Subclass Sentinel

"Titans are warriors - heroic defenders of the Light, channeling the gifts of the Traveler to wage war on the Darkness. Steadfast and sure, Titans face any challenge head-on, blunt force instruments of the Traveler's will." - Grimoire Card: Titan

Titans are the most durable of Destiny's class triad, sacrificing agility and recovery for the ability to withstand a tremendous amount of punishment. Much like its Hunter and Warlock brethren, the Titan class is divided into three subclasses at present; each specialization offers unique abilities and alters the manner in which the class is played. Shared among all subclasses is the Barricade class ability; this technique is further divided into Towering Barricade and Rally Barricade, each allowing players to deploy temporary cover on the battlefield.

"Hunters stalk the wilderness beyond the City, harnessing the Light to reclaim the secrets of our lost worlds. They are daring scouts and stealthy killers, expert with knives and precision weapons. Hunters blaze their own trails and write their own laws." - Grimoire Card: Hunter

Hunters are the most agile of Destiny's class triad, sacrificing resilience and recovery for the ability to move around the battlefield with effortless grace. Much like its Titan and Warlock brethren, the Hunter class is divided into three subclasses at present; each specialization offers unique abilities and alters the manner in which the class is played. Shared among all subclasses is the Dodge class ability; this technique is further divided into Gambler's Dodge and Marksman's Dodge, allowing players to either recharge melee abilities or reload weapons while skillfully evading incoming attacks.

Arc Subclass Stormcaller
Void Subclass Voidwalker

"Warrior-scholars of the Light, Warlocks devote themselves to understanding the Traveler and its power. A Warlock's mind is an arsenal of deadly secrets, balanced between godhood and madness. On the battlefield, those secrets can shatter reality itself." - Grimoire Card: Warlock

Warlocks boast the highest recovery of Destiny's class triad, sacrificing resilience and agility for the ability to regenerate health with tremendous alacrity. Much like its Titan and Hunter brethren, the Warlock class is divided into three subclasses at present; each specialization offers unique abilities and alters the manner in which the class is played. Shared among the subclasses is the Rift class ability; this technique is further divided into Healing Rift and Empowering Rift, each allowing players to buff allies with increased health regeneration and damage output.
