Lord Saladin is the vendor who represents the Iron Banner Live Event in the Crucible. During a week when the Iron Banner event is active, Lord Saladin will appear in the Tower.
Location
- The Tower – In the Courtyard, across from the landing zone.
Vendor Tooltip
This tooltip appears when hovering over the icon in the upper-left corner of the vendor screen:
- Complete Iron Banner matches to earn Iron Banner Ranks. Earn Rank multipliers by using Iron Banner armor, weapons, and emblems.
- Complete 1 of the 4 Iron Banner Challenges each week for a stacking Rank multiplier. One new challenge opens each day.
- Complete Ranks to earn Iron Banner Engrams.
- Iron Banner armor always drops with high-stat packages and a flame effect active during Iron Banner.
Iron Banner Rank
"Your legend, forged in iron. I can think of no better prize for a Lightbearer." —Saladin
Complete Iron Banner matches to earn Iron Banner Rank points. Receive Rank boosts for completing Iron Banner challenges, equipping Iron Banner gear, and equipping an Iron Banner emblem.
Players can increase their rank with Lord Saladin by completing Iron Banner matches. Rank can be reset to 1 after rank 16 is completed. The player's rank will carry over between events taking place in the same season. It will be automatically reset to 1 at the start of the next season.
Each rank will reward an Iron Engram, stored on Lord Saladin's vendor screen, which can either be decrypted into gear from the current Iron Banner loot pool, focused into specific items in the Focused Decoding and Legacy Gear sub-menus, or used to purchase Iron Banner Armor Ornaments. They have a maximum capacity of 99, and will disappear at the end of the season if not used.
There are 2 series of 4 weekly challenges available in the week Iron Banner takes place. One series gives Pinnacle Iron Banner weapons and armor for earning points in Iron Banner while using specific subclasses (varying per season). The other series rewards Iron Banner Rank multipliers for completing Iron Banner matches. One challenge from each series will be available on the first day of the week, with another becoming available on each consecutive day. All challenges will be available after the Friday reset. The current challenge can be seen on the tooltip when hovering over the Iron Banner activity icon in the Director. Challenges can be completed once per character, with the rank boosts for completing challenges carrying over between them.
Rank Boost
The amount of rank points gained from each completed match can be multiplied. The base rank boost is 1.0x, and can be increased by doing the following:
- Equipping Iron Banner weapons, armor, and armor ornaments (up to 5).
- Each item adds 0.40 to the base rank boost, up to a max of 2.0.
- Universal Iron Banner ornaments created through Armor Synthesis also count.
- Equipping an Iron Banner emblem.
- An emblem multiplies the base total rank boost by 1.50.
- Completing Iron Banner daily challenges (up to 4).
- Challenges multiply the base total rank boost, with each challenge completed adding 0.50 to the multiplier:
- Completing 1 challenge multiplies it by 1.50;
- Completing 2 multiplies it by 2.0;
- Completing 3 multiplies it by 2.50;
- Completing 4 multiplies it by 3.0.
- Challenges are time-gated, with a new one becoming available daily. By the Friday reset of the event, all four challenges will be available to complete.
- The rank boost from completing challenges on one character will carry over to the player's other characters. It will reset when the event ends at the end of the week.
- Challenges multiply the base total rank boost, with each challenge completed adding 0.50 to the multiplier:
The maximum possible rank boost is 13.50x:
(base + gear) * emblem * challenges = total (1.0 + 2.0) * 1.50 * 3.0 = 13.50
The player's current rank boost, as well as the factors contributing to it, can be seen by hovering over the activity modifier icon when launching Iron Banner.

Weapons that Lord Saladin offers as rank rewards have randomly rolled perks that are determined at the start of an Iron Banner week. Their perks will re-roll in subsequent weeks if the player does not earn and claim them.
