Disciple's Bog
Objective
Escort a Darkness barge through the Disciple's Bog to reach the Sunken Pyramid.
Description
The fireteam begins in the northwest corner of Miasma, facing a Projection of Savathûn and Hive enemies guarding the entrance to the Disciple's Bog. After defeating them, proceed into the bog on a Sparrow until encountering a Darkness barge surrounded by an orange aura. The objective is to collect Knowledge fragments to power the barge, moving it through multiple areas to reach the Sunken Pyramid.
Strategy
- Approach the barge, triggering waves of Scorn enemies, including Abominations called Knowledge Bearers.
- Defeat the Knowledge Bearers to spawn nine glowing orange Knowledge fragments around the area.
- Collect up to three fragments per player, granting Heightened Knowledge (1 stack), Brimming Knowledge (2 stacks), or Overflowing Knowledge (3 stacks).
- Return to the barge to deposit Knowledge, powering it to move forward.
- While outside the barge’s orange aura, players gain stacks of Pervading Darkness. At 10 stacks, players die. Stand within the aura to reduce stacks.
- Repeat this process in three additional areas, collecting and depositing Knowledge while managing Scorn enemies.
- After the final area, the barge enters the Pyramid. Follow the path to the next encounter.
Notes
- Divide the team into runners to collect fragments and defenders to clear enemies near the barge.
- Prioritize Knowledge Bearers to spawn fragments quickly.
- The barge moves quickly; use Sparrows or ride it to keep up.
- Hidden Chest #1 requires shooting three Darkness Cruxes along the path (see Hidden Chests).
First Hidden Chest
To unlock the first hidden chest, shoot three Darkness Cruxes during the encounter:
- At the first stop, under a fallen tree to the left of the barge.
- At the third stop, at the end of the hallway with columns, turn left into a corner.
- At the fourth stop, under the bridge the barge crosses, inside a hole on the opposite side.
Once all cruxes are destroyed, a door opens near the third crux. From the third crux, jump to elevated terrain and enter the structure on the right to find the chest.
Acquisition
Objective
Cleanse three obelisks by identifying and shooting correct glyph symbols.
Description
This encounter takes place in a large museum-like room with three obelisks: south (near the entrance), east, and west. Each obelisk has a totem displaying symbols, and nine rooms around the perimeter are marked with glyphs: Worship (south), Drink (north), Stop (west), Commune (east), Grieve (west), Knowledge (north), Kill (east), Give (south), Enter (south). The room is divided by Traveler (east) and Pyramid (west) symbols.
Strategy
- Split into three pairs, each assigned to an obelisk. Designate one as a reader and one as a runner.
- Shoot the central Darkness Crux to start the encounter, spawning Scorn and Unstoppable Abominations.
- Readers monitor their totem for symbols:
- Top: Traveler or Pyramid, indicating where a Disciple’s Compass (Taken Knight) spawns.
- Middle: A room glyph, directing the runner to a specific room.
- Bottom: Light or Dark, indicating which Glyphkeeper to kill.
- Runners locate and kill the Disciple’s Compass on the indicated side, revealing the middle symbol.
- Runners enter the room indicated by the middle symbol, defeating the Glyphkeeper specified by the bottom symbol (Light or Dark). A glyph appears near the slain Glyphkeeper; record it.
- Repeat until three glyphs are recorded from three Glyphkeepers.
- Identify the obelisk displaying all three recorded glyphs on its faces. Shoot these glyphs quickly to cleanse the obelisk.
- Repeat the process two more times to cleanse the remaining obelisks.
Notes
- Obelisks fill with energy when attacked by Abated Adherents or over time, wiping the team if filled completely. Successful offerings drain energy.
- Shooting the central Darkness Crux toggles open/closed doors.
- Screebs spawn in rooms; use heavy weapons like Gjallarhorn for quick Glyphkeeper kills.
- Coordinate shooting obelisk glyphs to avoid rejection (three failed attempts wipe the team).
- After cleansing an obelisk, it won’t be selected again, but continue defending it.
Swift Destruction Challenge
Kill all Unstoppable Abominations within a short time of each other during the encounter.
The Caretaker
Objective
Prevent The Caretaker from reaching the obelisk and defeat him across four floors.
Description
This multi-level encounter pits the fireteam against The Caretaker, a Scorn Abomination, in a room with an obelisk. The team must collect Knowledge fragments to cleanse the obelisk, stun the Caretaker to delay him, and deal damage on glowing plates. The encounter spans three floors, culminating in a final stand.
Strategy
- Divide into three roles (two players each): runners, stunners, add clear.
- Runners shoot a Darkness Crux to open a door behind the obelisk, starting the encounter.
- Runners:
- Enter the dark room, collecting up to three Knowledge fragments with glyphs above them.
- Exit when Pervading Darkness stacks approach 10, signaling add clear to open the door.
- When “The obelisk awaits [player’s] offering…” appears, shoot the corresponding glyphs on the obelisk.
- Alternate runners to manage Pervading Darkness.
- Stunners:
- Stand near the Caretaker to trigger Caretaker’s Gaze, prompting a slam attack.
- Shoot his glowing face, then his back when exposed, to stun him.
- Destroy Darkness Spikes launched from his back to avoid damage.
- Add Clear:
- Kill Taken and Scorn, prioritizing Taken Vandals on the sides.
- Open the door for runners by shooting the Darkness Crux.
- After cleansing nine glyphs, enter the damage phase:
- Stand on the glowing plate (left or right, based on the Caretaker’s path) to damage him.
- Move to the next plate when it fades, then the third, until his health gate is reached.
- Ascend to the next floor via stairs, repeating the process. Rooms grow larger with more hazards (pits, Taken Wizards).
- On the fourth floor (final stand), use three linear plates to deal maximum damage until the Caretaker is defeated.
Notes
- Use Linear Fusion Rifles (for example Reed’s Regret) and Outbreak Perfected for consistent damage.
- Well of Radiance and Ward of Dawn enhance damage phases.
- Save heavy ammo and Supers for the final stand.
- Runners can collect fewer than three fragments to manage Pervading Darkness.
- Stunners can stunlock the Caretaker by timing shots before slams.
Base Defenders Challenge
At least one player must not enter the dark room during the encounter, focusing solely on stunning and add clear.
Exhibition
Objective
Navigate four rooms within the Terminal Resonance timer, using relics to manage enemies and unlock doors with matching glyphs.
Description
This chaotic encounter requires the fireteam to move through four rooms, juggling three relics from past raids: Leviathan Crystal, Vault of Glass Aegis, and Last Wish Taken Essence. The team must kill Glyphkeepers, identify matching glyphs, and use relics to extend the timer and manage debuffs.
Strategy
- Assign relic roles, ensuring rotation due to Curbed Resonance (30-second lockout after dropping a relic).
- Room 1:
- Pick up the Leviathan Crystal to start the encounter, triggering Terminal Resonance (1:14 timer).
- Kill two Glyphkeepers (one Scorn, one Resonant Glyphkeeper).
- Crystal holder kills the Disciple’s Hourglass (Taken Knight) to add 40 seconds.
- Identify the matching glyph between Scorn (visible to non-relic holders) and Resonant (visible to relic holders) glyphs.
- Shoot the matching glyph on the doorframe to proceed.
- Room 2:
- Deposit the Crystal, spawning the Vault of Glass Aegis. Two new players pick up relics.
- Split into two groups of three, covering left and right paths.
- Aegis holder cleanses Pervading Darkness using the block button.
- Kill two sets of Glyphkeepers, with the Crystal holder killing two Disciple’s Hourglasses.
- Identify two matching glyphs and shoot them on the doorframe.
- Room 3:
- Deposit relics, spawning the Last Wish Taken Essence. Three new players pick up relics.
- Taken Essence holder destroys Taken Blights with the grenade button to make enemies vulnerable.
- Kill two sets of Glyphkeepers and Hourglasses, managing Overload Hobgoblins.
- Identify two matching glyphs and shoot them on the doorframe.
- Room 4:
- Repeat Room 3 strategy on disjointed platforms, watching for pits.
- Deposit all relics in the final room to stop the timer.
Notes
- Use add-clear weapons like Trinity Ghoul or Witherhoard.
- Relics dropped into pits respawn in the previous room’s antechamber.
- Screebs spawn between rooms; clear them carefully.
- Plan relic rotation (for example Player 1: Crystal in Room 1, Aegis in Room 3; Player 2: Crystal in Room 2, Taken in Room 4).
- Overload mods are essential for Hobgoblins.
Defenses Down Challenge
Each player must kill at least one Disciple’s Hourglass during the encounter.
Rhulk, Disciple of the Witness
Objective
Remove Rhulk, Disciple of the Witness’s forcefield and defeat him in a damage phase.
Description
The final encounter pits the fireteam against Rhulk, Disciple of the Witness in the Dominion arena. The team must manage Leeching Force and Emanating Force buffs to cleanse totems, remove Rhulk’s forcefield, and deal damage in a multi-phase fight culminating in a final stand.
Strategy
- Assign roles: two buff retainers, one runner, one reader, two add clear.
- Forcefield Phase:
- Approach Rhulk to start, triggering a Darkness Crystal above him.
- Buff retainers shoot the crystal, gaining Leeching Force.
- One retainer stands on the central plate, spawning two crystals. Runner and second retainer shoot them, splitting Leeching Force.
- Runner stands in Rhulk’s laser to convert Leeching Force to Emanating Force, entering the forcefield.
- Add clear kills two Glyphkeepers, spawning glyphs:
- Left (visible to Leeching/Emanating holders).
- Right (visible to others).
- Reader and runner identify the matching glyph; reader locates totems with that glyph (labeled L1-L3, R1-R3).
- Runner dunks Emanating Force at a correct totem, shrinking the forcefield.
- Second retainer stands on the plate, spawning crystals for runner and first retainer to split Leeching Force again.
- Repeat until six dunks remove the forcefield.
- Damage Phase:
- Ascend to Rhulk’s arena, avoiding his attacks:
- Drop Kick: High-damage melee if too close.
- Charge: Telegraphed by a yellow bar; dodge perpendicularly.
- Laser AoE: Six-directional beams; stand between them.
- Runner shoots Rhulk’s glaive when dropped, gaining Leeching Force.
- Non-runners call out the glyph (Traveler, Pyramid, Light, Darkness) near the glaive.
- Runner converts to Emanating Force via laser, dunks at the corresponding totem (Traveler: bottom-left, Pyramid: top-left, Light: bottom-right, Darkness: top-right).
- Dunking exposes a weakpoint (shoulders, then hips). Destroy it to spawn Shadow Thrall.
- Repeat four times to start DPS phase when Rhulk transforms.
- Deal maximum damage with Divinity, Linear Fusion Rifles, or Rocket Launchers.
- Retreat when Rhulk kneels and becomes immune to avoid forcefield wipe.
- Ascend to Rhulk’s arena, avoiding his attacks:
- Repeat forcefield and damage phases up to three times. At the final health segment, Rhulk enters Final Stand, stacking Pervading Darkness. Kill him before reaching 10 stacks.
Notes
- Use Divinity for easier crits and a 30% damage buff.
- Gjallarhorn enhances Rocket Launchers; pair with Izanagi’s Burden for high DPS.
- Save Supers for final stand (for example Thundercrash, Nova Bomb).
- Losing Leeching Force spawns one more crystal; losing it again wipes the team.
- High-Energy Fire and Font of Might boost damage without relying on Well of Radiance.
Looping Catalyst Challenge
Each player must obtain and deposit the Leeching Force and Emanating Force buff at least once during the encounter.
Rewards
- All non-Adept Legendary weapons that drop from this raid have Weapon Patterns that can be learned through Deepsight Resonance extractions, allowing them to be Shaped.
Harmonic Alloys are needed to craft them, and can be obtained by dismantling craftable Legendary weapons obtained from raids.
- Completing the last encounter will grant access to Lubrae's Ruin, a vendor that allows players to purchase raid weapons and armor for
Spoils of Conquest. The first weapon purchased from the vendor in a given week will be guaranteed to have Deepsight Resonance.
- Light of the Dark Sun is a Triumph reward for completing the raid.
- The Cleaver is a Triumph reward for completing the raid within the first 24 hours of release. It cannot be obtained anymore.
- Divinity's Caress is a Triumph reward for completing all weekly challenges of this raid.
- Echoed Anger is a Triumph reward for completing the raid without any deaths for entire fireteam.
- Imperious Sun Shell is a Triumph reward for collecting all lore entries in the raid.

The Caretaker
One weapon or armor drop is rewarded from completing this encounter.
Class items will not drop from this encounter on Master difficulty.[1]
Exhibition
One weapon or armor drop is rewarded from completing this encounter.
Rhulk, Disciple of the Witness
One weapon or armor drop is rewarded from completing this encounter.
Class items will not drop from this encounter on Master difficulty.[1]
Adept Weapons
Adept versions of the raid weapons can only be obtained by playing on Master difficulty. Completing the weekly raid Challenge on Master difficulty will drop a new Adept weapon that the player has not yet unlocked in Collections. If all Adept weapons have been acquired from the raid, then the Adept weapon that drops will be random. Additional rolls of the Adept weapons can be purchased from the Lubrae's Ruin vendor on Master difficulty for Spoils of Conquest.
Although they cannot be crafted, performing a Deepsight Resonance extraction on an Adept weapon will count toward unlocking the Weapon Pattern for the normal version of that weapon.[2]
