Subclasses
Each class has a Solar subclass, with abilities that deal Solar damage:
- Titan — Sunbreaker;
- Hunter — Gunslinger;
- Warlock — Dawnblade.
Aspects

Aspects are items that modify a subclass, adding new abilities or modifying existing ones. Each class has their own unique set of Aspects for each of their subclasses.
A subclass can equip up to two Aspects at a time. Equipping an Aspect unlocks a certain number of slots for equipping that subclass's Fragments.
Fragments

Fragments are items that can be equipped to a subclass to provide passive bonuses to that subclass. Equipping a Fragment may also grant Stat Increases, or inflict Stat Penalties. Fragments are not tied to specific classes, and are available to obtain for all subclasses of a given element type.
Weapons
Energy and Power Weapons can deal Solar damage.
Energy weapons deal less damage than Kinetic against unshielded enemies, but deal more damage to the elemental shields, and even more if the weapon's element matches the shield's. Destroying a Solar shield with Solar weapon or ability causes an explosion that damages enemies in a certain radius near the target.
Armor
Character armor has elemental types that determine which Mods can be installed into it.
Solar mods can be installed only into Solar armor. They mostly revolve around Auto Rifles, Fusion Rifles, Linear Fusion Rifles, Submachine Guns and Rocket Launchers, as well as grenade abilities, and also provide resistance to Solar damage.
Enemies
Some of the enemies are surrounded by elemental shields which soak a certain amount of incoming damage. Enemies can also deal elemental damage.
Solar shields are used by:
- Fallen — Shanks (elite);
- Hive — Wizards;
- Cabal — Centurions;
- Taken — Taken Captains.
Solar weapons are used by:
- Fallen — Dregs, Vandals, Marauders, Captains, Walkers, Exploder Shanks;
- Hive — Acolytes, Knights;
- Cabal — Psions, Legionaries, Phalanxes, Incendiors, Gladiators, Centurions, Colossi;
- Vex — Fanatics, Goblins, Hobgoblins, Harpies;
- Taken — Taken Vandals, Taken Captains, Taken Thralls, Taken Wizards, Taken Psions, Taken Phalanxes, Taken Centurions, Taken Goblins, Taken Hobgoblins, Taken Minotaurs;
- Scorn — Ravagers, Lurkers, Wraiths.
Although there are occurrences where these enemies have different shields, and it is possible for them to wield different weapons.
Singe
Elemental singe is a heroic modifier that is changed weekly. During Solar singe, both players and enemies deal more damage with Solar weapons and abilities, and the players can complete one of the Vanguard Challenges by completing strikes in Solar subclasses.

Cure
Restoration
You regenerate health and shields over time. Cannot be interrupted by taking damage.
Radiant
Your weapons are enhanced by the power of the Traveler and deal increased damage to combatants.
While you are radiant, your weapons pierce the shields of Barrier Champions and stun them.
Firesprite
A luminous concentration of Solar energy. When picked up, Firesprites grant grenade energy.
Scorch
The target is singed by destructive Solar Light, taking damage over time. Scorch damage increases as the target accumulates more Scorch stacks.
After enough Scorch stacks are applied, they ignite.
Ignition
A large Solar explosion which deals damage in an area around the target and stuns Unstoppable Champions.
