Strand

Strand icon

Strand is a Darkness-based element. Its effects are associated with connections and threads. It was added with the release of the Lightfall expansion.

These terms refer to buffs and debuffs associated with Strand.

Tangle

A knot of Strand matter, swirling with potential. Tangles can be shot and destroyed, or picked up and thrown, dealing damage.

Defeating targets afflicted by any Strand debuff will unwind them and create a Tangle.

Threadling

A creature woven from pure Strand matter that seeks nearby targets and attacks, dealing damage.

Woven Mail

Your body is encased in a protective mesh of tightly woven Strand matter, greatly reducing any incoming non-precision damage.

Sever

The target's connections to the world around them are cut, and their outgoing damage is significantly reduced.

Severed targets unwind into a Tangle when defeated.

Suspend

The target is immobilized by a web of Strand matter, lifting them into the air. While suspended, Guardians are unable to move freely, combatants are unable to move or fire their weapon, and Unstoppable Champions are stunned.

Unravel

The target is permeated with destructive Strand matter. As they take additional damage, they create unraveled projectiles that seek out nearby targets.

Unraveling Rounds from your Strand weapons pierce the shields of Barrier Champions and stun them.

Subclasses

Each class has a Strand subclass:

• Titan — Berserker;
• Hunter — Threadrunner;
• Warlock — Broodweaver.

Strand subclasses are unlocked by completing the Lightfall campaign on any difficulty. Each class starts with the Grapple Grenade ability already unlocked. Additional Strand Grenade abilities, Aspects, and Fragments can be purchased at the Pouka Pond in the Hall of Heroes on Neptune.

Aspects are items that modify a subclass, adding new abilities or modifying existing ones. Each class has their own unique set of Aspects for each of their subclasses.

A subclass can equip up to two Aspects at a time. Equipping an Aspect unlocks a certain number of slots for equipping that subclass's Fragments.

Fragments

Fragments are items that can be equipped to a subclass to provide passive bonuses to that subclass. Equipping a Fragment may also grant Stat Increases, or inflict Stat Penalties. Fragments are not tied to specific classes, and are available to obtain for all subclasses of a given element type.

Strand elemental shields can be used by the following enemies:
