Overview
General Information
- Legendary items are denoted in-game by a purple tooltip.
- Legendary items fall into the fourth tier of rarity.
Characteristics
- The base Attack/Defense cap for Legendary equipment depends on the expansions owned by the player.
- Legendary equipment can be Infused to improve its Attack or Defense value.
- Legendary equipment can be Infused into Legendary or Exotic equipment.
- Legendary equipment can be recolored with Shaders.
- Legendary equipment can be altered with Mods.
- Legendary equipment can be looted with a Legendary Mod already installed.
- Legendary equipment can be purchased directly from Faction Vendors once the player has unlocked the privilege.
- Legendary engrams must be taken to a Cryptarch to be decrypted.
Acquisition - Legendary Equipment
- Legendary equipment may be obtained from Faction Engrams.
- Legendary equipment may be obtained upon completion of certain quests.
- Legendary equipment may be obtained upon completion of a Crucible match.

- Legendary engrams may drop randomly from defeated enemies.
- Legendary engrams may drop randomly from planetary chests.
- Legendary engrams may drop randomly from region chests.
- Legendary engrams may drop randomly from High-Value Target chests.
- Legendary engrams may drop randomly from Public Event chests.
- Legendary engrams may drop randomly from Lost Sector chests.
- Legendary engrams may drop randomly from Cayde's loot stashes.
