Beyond Light is the fifth DLC expansion for Destiny 2.

Introduction

GO BEYOND THE LIGHT

A new power is born out of the ancient Pyramid Ship above Europa's frozen frontier, and a dark empire has risen beneath, united under the banner of the Fallen Kell of Darkness, Eramis. Join your fellow Guardians and bring down the empire at any cost – even if it means wielding the Darkness itself.

The splintered houses of the Fallen have rallied and built their new Empire on the icy moon of Europa. Brave the unrelenting glacial frontier, infiltrate the Golden Age Braytech facility, and uncover the secrets that lie deep under the ancient ice.

Changes

Beyond Light launched along with the Destiny Content Vault. This Vault allows the developers to continue to add more content to the game without making it too large to maintain. Each year some of Destiny 2's content is removed from the game into the Vault, and other activities come from the Vault to replace it.

The following destinations were moved to the Destiny Content Vault when Beyond Light arrived: Mars, Io, Titan, Mercury and Leviathan, along with their supported activities. Their Exotics can be bought from the new Monument to Lost Lights terminal in the Tower.

Content moved out of the Vault and into the game comes from Destiny and includes the Cosmodrome destination, The Disgraced (Will of Crota), The Devils' Lair and Fallen S.A.B.E.R. strikes, and the Vault of Glass raid.

Gambit and Gambit Prime are merged into a single mode. Regular Nightfall Strikes are removed.

Overview

Beyond Light introduces a new Story Campaign and a patrol zone on Europa, with a new raid set in the Deep Stone Crypt. Another main addition is the new elemental type: Stasis, which comes with three new subclasses that have customizable skill trees.

Variks the Loyal is the vendor of Europa, and the Exo Stranger covers quests for mastering Stasis.

The New Light questline is completely reworked, introducing Shaw Han as the guide for new players and vendor of Cosmodrome.

Content

Beyond Light's launch began the fourth year of Destiny 2. It included four seasons. Their content remained in the game until the release of the next expansion, The Witch Queen.
