FORSAKEN

Following years of strife, what remains of the Reef has fallen to lawlessness. You and Cayde-6 are sent to personally investigate the recent unrest. Upon arrival, you soon discover the most-wanted criminals in the Prison of Elders have organized an escape. Beyond the Vanguard's authority, you'll pursue these fugitives deep into the Reef. Explore new regions, awaken new powers, earn powerful weapons, and uncover long lost Awoken secrets. The hunt is on.

Each subclass receives a new subclass tree which alters the character's Super ability. Players can access the catalogue of all gear and cosmetic items they have obtained in the Collections menu. They can also earn Triumphs by performing various feats while playing.

Primary and Special ammo weapons may now exist in either Kinetic or Energy slot. Heavy ammo weapons exist only in the Power slot. Ammo type and damage type are now fixed attributes of a specific weapon. A new Weapon Mod system is introduced. Weapon Mods are no longer used to change weapon damage type, now they alter the weapon's performance. Year 1 mods cannot be used on armor and weapons anymore. Vault size increased to 500 slots.

Meditations were removed from the game, replaced by the Daily Heroic Story Missions playlist. Replayable Adventures have been removed from destination vendors, instead a Heroic version of a single Adventure can be replayed on the Flashpoint destination, this Adventure changes daily. Raid revive mechanics are changed. Each player has a single revive token which they can spend to resurrect their fallen teammate. The team has a total of 2:30 seconds to revive their teammates during a single encounter, the timer resumes with the next death and resets only at the start of an encounter.

Overview

Season of the Outlaw consists of the base Forsaken content and includes its Story Campaign, and the Tangled Shore and the Dreaming City patrol zones, occupied by a new enemy race, the Scorn. Spider and Petra Venj are the vendors of these destinations.

This season introduces the Shattered Throne, a dungeon, which is a new type of activity in Destiny 2. Dungeons are mechanically challenging, but can be completed solo or in a team of up to three players. Other additions include a new horde mode Public Event, the Blind Well, and four strikes: Warden of Nothing, the Hollowed Lair, the Corrupted, and Broodhold.

A new raid, the Last Wish, opened ten days after the season's launch. It features the Wall of Wishes, a special mechanic which can be used to teleport to different encounters, earn extra rewards and make cosmetic changes to the raid. Most of the wish combinations were found in the raid itself, some were hidden in other areas and one was found in a cutscene. The first completion of this raid unleashed the curse upon the Dreaming City, forcing it into a three week cycle which changes certain parts of this destination.

The new playlist activity, Gambit, was added in this season. It is a combination of PvP and PvE, where two teams with four players in each have to summon and defeat a boss faster than the other team, while hindering their opponents' progress. The Drifter is the vendor for this activity.
