Fallen

The Fallen, known in their own language as the Eliksni, are a nomadic, four-armed race of scavengers and raiders. Once a proud spacefaring civilization, they were ruined when their god — the Traveler, which they called the Great Machine — abandoned their homeworld of Riis during a catastrophe they remember as the Whirlwind. The survivors have wandered the system ever since, plundering ruins to survive and seeking to reclaim the Great Machine they believe is rightfully theirs.
The Fallen depend on Ether, a vital substance produced by their Servitors, to live; without it they weaken and die. Their name reflects their fall from grace, for the Eliksni were once far greater than the desperate pirates Guardians fight today.
Characteristics
Fallen society follows a strict hierarchy. At its head stands the Kell, who commands a House; beneath the Kell serve the Archon, a high priest who controls the supply of Ether, along with Barons and Captains, and then the lesser Vandals and Dregs. Dregs have their lower arms docked as a mark of low rank and earn them back as they rise. Mechanical Shanks and floating Servitors round out their forces, the Servitors serving both as Ether factories and as objects of worship.
