Awoken

The Awoken are a humanoid race in the Destiny universe, descended from humans who were transformed during the Collapse. They are one of the three races a Guardian can be, alongside Humans and Exos.

Overview

The Awoken trace their origin to refugees aboard a generation ship who were caught in a spacetime anomaly during the Collapse and remade into a new people. They came to inhabit the Distributary, a pocket reality where time passed far more quickly than in the solar system. When an expedition led by Mara Sov returned home, the Awoken divided: the Reefborn settled The Reef under Mara's rule as its Queen, while the Earthborn joined humanity in The Last City.

The Reef Awoken fought costly conflicts, including the Reef Wars against the Fallen and the defense against Oryx's invasion, and they remain closely tied to the mysteries of the Dreaming City. They are longstanding allies of the Vanguard.
