Collapse

The Collapse was the cataclysm that ended humanity's Golden Age and reduced the species to the brink of extinction.

Overview

During the Collapse, the Darkness and its Pyramid fleet — the Black Fleet — swept through the Sol System, destroying humanity's colonies and killing the vast majority of its population. The Traveler made a final stand, releasing a wave of energy that drove back the Darkness at the cost of falling dormant. In its last act, the Traveler released the Ghosts, which would go on to raise the Guardians and rekindle the Light. The survivors retreated to Earth and eventually founded The Last City beneath the dormant Traveler, beginning the Dark Age that followed. Much about the Collapse remains shrouded in mystery.
