Ghosts are small, sentient robotic companions in the Destiny universe. Created by the Traveler during its last breath before falling dormant, Ghosts seek out and resurrect fallen warriors as Guardians, granting them the power of the Light.

Description

Ghosts are floating artificial intelligences that were created by the Traveler during the Collapse. Each Ghost is unique, with its own personality and quirks. They serve as companions, guides, and the source of a Guardian's immortality, capable of resurrecting their Guardian from death as long as the Ghost itself remains intact.

Abilities

• Resurrection: Can revive their Guardian partner from death
• Healing: Provide healing and recovery to their Guardian
• Scanning: Analyze objects, enemies, and environments
• Hacking: Interface with technology and computer systems
• Transmat: Teleport items and summon vehicles
• Communication: Serve as a communication device
• Light Channeling: Channel the Traveler's Light to their Guardian

Creation

Ghosts were created by the Traveler in its dying breath during the Collapse. They were sent out to find those who could wield the Light and protect humanity. Each Ghost searches for their specific Guardian, sometimes for centuries, until they find their chosen one.

Ghost-Guardian Bond

• Each Ghost is paired with one specific Guardian
• The bond is permanent until one or both are destroyed
• Ghosts can only resurrect their paired Guardian
• If a Ghost is destroyed, their Guardian loses immortality

Anatomy

• Central eye that serves as their primary sensor
• Protective shell that can be customized
• Internal Light-based mechanisms
• Ability to compress and expand their form

Vulnerabilities

• Can be destroyed by Darkness zones
• Vulnerable to paracausal weapons
• Lightbearer Hive specifically target Ghosts
• Weapons of Sorrow can permanently kill Ghosts

Ghost Shells

Ghosts can equip different shells that provide both cosmetic changes and gameplay benefits:

• Increased experience gains
• Resource detection
• Improved rewards
• Stat bonuses

Lore Significance

Ghosts represent the Traveler's final gift to humanity and are essential to the Guardian's identity. They serve as the narrative voice throughout the game and provide context for the player's actions.
