A Guardian is a defender of The Last City and humanity, chosen by the Traveler to wield its Light. Guardians are resurrected corpses from the Golden Age brought back to life by the Traveler's Light, carried by a Ghost, an artificially intelligent flying robot companion. Upon resurrection, Guardians have no memory of their past life.

Overview

Guardians are the player characters of Destiny and Destiny 2. They serve as humanity's primary defense against various alien threats including the Fallen, Hive, Vex, Cabal, Taken, and Scorn. Each Guardian is paired with a Ghost who can resurrect them upon death, making them effectively immortal in most situations.

Classes

There are three Guardian classes, each with distinct abilities and playstyles:

Titan

Titans are Guardian warriors who specialize in armor and defense. The first Titans built and defended The Wall that protects The Last City. Their heritage is rooted in strength, sacrifice, and mercilessness. Titans favor heavy armor and overwhelming force in combat.

Hunter

Hunters are Guardian scouts who specialize in agility, stealth, and marksmanship. They are "quick on the trigger and deadly with a blade," earning them a fearful reputation among humanity's enemies. Hunters often work alone in the wild, serving as the City's scouts and assassins.

Warlock

Warlocks are Guardian scholars who have long studied the Traveler, mastering some of its arcane energies. They specialize in combining "magic" powers granted by the Traveler with modern weapons. Warlocks seek to understand the true nature of the Light and the universe itself.

Guardians can harness the Light in various elemental forms:
