Taken Hydra
Information

Taken Hydras are Vex Hydra units that have been corrupted by the power of Darkness and transformed into Taken. These formidable enemies combine the defensive capabilities of standard Hydras with new offensive abilities granted by their transformation.

Overview

Taken Hydras represent some of the most dangerous Taken units, as the corruption process enhances their already formidable defensive systems while adding new offensive capabilities. Unlike many Taken variants that simply gain one or two new abilities, Taken Hydras undergo significant tactical improvements that make them exponentially more threatening than their Vex counterparts.

Appearance

Taken Hydras maintain the distinctive chassis of Vex Hydras but display characteristic Taken corruption:

  • Black and white writhing energy covering their frame
  • Dark tendrils emerging from the top of their chassis
  • Distorted visual effects around their body
  • Glowing white optical sensor
  • Corrupted shield projectors with enhanced capabilities

Enhanced Capabilities

Unlike standard Hydras with a single rotating shield:

  • Number: Typically 2-3 independent shields
  • Coverage: Near-complete protection
