Crota, Son of Oryx is an ancient and powerful Hive prince, the son of Oryx, and the central antagonist of the original The Dark Below expansion.

Biography
As a reckless young prince, Crota tore open a portal into the Vex network, inadvertently teaching the machines the Sword Logic and drawing his father's anger. He spent ages traveling the Vex gates, raising temples and accruing power through tribute.
During the events later remembered as the Great Disaster, Crota led a Hive assault on the Moon and personally slaughtered thousands of Guardians, an event that left Luna a graveyard. His soul was tethered to a crystal within the Hellmouth, allowing him to return whenever his physical form was destroyed.
Crota's End
Guardians first severed Crota from the mortal world by destroying his soul's crystal, then invaded his Oversoul Throne and slew him using his own Sword Logic against him. He is the final boss of the Crota's End raid, which returned in Destiny 2.
