Adept Weapons
Adept Weapons are improved versions of certain Legendary weapons. They are obtained from difficult, end-game activities.
Overview
Adept Weapons
- Category page: Adept Weapons
The Adept version of a weapon is indicated by "(Adept)" being appended to its name (e.g. The Hothead and The Hothead (Adept)).
Adept weapons usually share the same base stats and perk pool with their base version. In Infusion, weapons and their Adept versions are considered duplicates, allowing them to be infused into each other for 1,000.
Adept weapons differ from their base versions in several ways:
- In addition to the usual +10 increase to the weapon's primary stat, fully Masterworking an Adept weapon grants +3 to all alternate stats;[1]
- Adept weapons can use weapon mods with "Adept" in their names, as well as standard weapon mods;[1]
- An Adept weapon usually has a different default appearance from its base version.
An Adept weapon's availability depends on the availability of its base version. As a result, some Nightfall and Trials of Osiris Adept weapons are no longer obtainable, with their base versions having been removed from their respective game mode's loot pool rotation.
Adept Weapon Mods
- Main page: Weapon Mods
Adept weapon mods can only be equipped on Adept weapons. There are Adept mods that improve specific weapon stats, as well as improved versions of normal weapon mods. Adept weapon mods can be obtained as drops from any sources of Adept weapons, as well as Master-difficulty dungeons. The exception to this is Adept Icarus Grip, which is exclusive to Trials of Osiris Flawless chests.
Adept Weapon Enhancement
Certain Adept weapons can be enhanced, giving them similar properties to crafted weapons and limited access to perk reshaping and Enhanced Traits. Enhanced Adept weapons retain the ability to equip Adept weapon mods.
Currently, as of the Season of the Deep, only Adept weapons obtained from the Root of Nightmares raid on Master difficulty can be enhanced.
Enhancement Tiers
The following table includes the enhancement upgrade tiers. The enhancement option can be found on the weapon's Details screen, in the Enhancement socket that takes the place of the Deepsight Resonance socket that normally appears on non-Adept craftable weapons.
Name | Description | Weapon Level Required | Upgrade Cost | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|
Enhance Weapon | Once enhanced, this weapon will be granted a weapon level, memento socket, and obtain limited reshape options at the Relic in the Mars Enclave. Enhancing will immediately replace this weapon's Masterwork with an enhanced intrinsic that is aligned with the current Masterwork stat. |

Trials of Osiris
In Trials of Osiris, players who go Flawless (7 wins with no losses) will receive a pinnacle Adept weapon from the chest in the Lighthouse. This weekly reward can only be claimed once per account, not per character. The Adept weapon that drops from the chest rotates each week.[4]
Once players go Flawless in a given week, they can continue to earn additional drops of the weekly Adept weapon by completing matches on any Trials Passage with at least 7 wins, regardless of losses. This resets weekly.[5][6]
Players who have claimed their first Flawless chest in the current week can purchase drops of the weekly Adept weapon by focusing Trials Engrams at Saint-14.[4] Decrypting an Adept weapon costs 1 Trials Engram, 50, 50,000, and any 7-win Trials Passage.
Grandmaster Nightfall
The Adept version of the weekly Nightfall weapon can drop from Nightfalls on Grandmaster difficulty. Completing a Grandmaster Nightfall with a Platinum rating, killing all Champions that spawn before finishing the mission, will guarantee an Adept weapon drop.[7] During weeks where the Double Nightfall Drops modifier is active, two Adept weapons will drop instead of one.
If it has been previously obtained, the weekly Adept Nightfall weapon can be focused at Commander Zavala. Decrypting an Adept weapon costs 1 Vanguard Engram, 50, 50,000, and 10 Adept Nightfall Ciphers. Adept Ciphers can be obtained from Grandmaster Nightfalls: 2 will drop after earning a Platinum rating, while only 1 will drop with a Gold rating.
Adept Nightfall weapons will usually have an additional Trait in either the third or fourth column.
Master Difficulty Raids
Adept versions of weapons from certain raids can be obtained when playing on Master difficulty.
Vault of Glass
Adept weapons obtained from the Vault of Glass raid have "(Timelost)" appended to their names instead. They function the same as regular Adept weapons, but offer an additional perk in the third and fourth columns.[8]
Timelost weapons drop when completing Vault of Glass Challenges (e.g. "Wait for It...") on Master difficulty. A specific Timelost weapon will be available to obtain each week, rotating along with the Challenge. Note that weekly reward lockouts are shared between the Normal and Master difficulties of the raid. This means that completing a challenge on Normal difficulty first will prevent the player from getting a Timelost weapon reward from the challenge on Master difficulty for that week.[8]
Once a Timelost weapon has been obtained, additional rolls of that weapon can be purchased from the Cache of Kabr vendor at the end of the raid using Spoils of Conquest.[8] They can only be purchased when playing on Master difficulty.
Vow of the Disciple
In the Vow of the Disciple raid, completing the weekly raid Challenge on Master difficulty will drop a new Adept weapon that the player has not yet unlocked in Collections. If all Adept weapons have been acquired from the raid, then the Adept weapon that drops will be random.[9] Unlike the normal raid weapons, the Adept weapons cannot be crafted. However, completing Deepsight Resonance extractions on an Adept weapon will make progress toward unlocking the Weapon Pattern for its normal version.[10]
Once an Adept weapon has been obtained, additional rolls of that weapon can be purchased from the Lubrae's Ruin vendor at the end of the raid using Spoils of Conquest. They can only be purchased when playing on Master difficulty.
King's Fall
Adept weapons obtained from the King's Fall raid have "(Harrowed)" appended to their names instead. Completing a Challenge on Master difficulty will reward an Adept weapon.[11] Additional rolls of the Adept weapons can be purchased from the Dreadnaught's Riches vendor on Master difficulty for Spoils of Conquest, if the player has those weapons unlocked in Collections. Although they cannot be crafted, performing a Deepsight Resonance extraction on a Harrowed weapon will count toward unlocking the Weapon Pattern for the normal version of that weapon.[10]
Root of Nightmares
In the Root of Nightmares raid, completing an encounter challenge on Master difficulty will drop an Adept raid weapon. Encounter challenges rotate weekly.[12] Once an Adept weapon has been obtained, additional rolls of that weapon can be purchased from the Night Terror vendor at the end of the raid on Master difficulty using Spoils of Conquest.
Root of Nightmares Adept weapons can be enhanced (see "Adept Weapon Enhancement" above), giving them limited access to perk reshaping and Enhanced Traits.[13]
