Weapon Traits
Weapon Traits are perks that give a weapon extra power or utility by changing its behavior. This power usually comes at a cost, usually in the form of an activation trigger condition, or in some cases, a penalty to other stats or utilities.
The number of weapon traits that are a weapon differ by rarity. Rare Weapons get one trait while Legendary and Exotic weapons get two traits. Basic and Uncommon weapons do not have traits. Weapon traits for legendary weapons are random rolled. The random rolls for these traits are unbiased and picked from a set pool of possible traits.[1]

Enhanced Traits
Enhanced Traits are enhanced versions of traits. They can only appear on weapons created through Weapon Shaping. The enhanced version of a trait will usually improve something about its effect, such as its duration.
Crafting an Enhanced Trait usually requires 1 Ascendant Alloy and 2,000 Resonant Elements.
Origin Traits
Origin Traits are a type of trait added in the Season of the Risen. They make up the fifth perk column, providing bonuses similar to Weapon Traits. They are assigned to weapons based on their origin. This origin can be tied to the activity the weapon was obtained from, a set that it belongs to, or the Foundry that manufactured it. A weapon can have more than one origin trait if it falls into multiple categories, allowing the player to toggle between them. For example, Herod-C is a Häkke-manufactured weapon that originally dropped only from Gambit. As a result, it has both Hakke Breach Armaments and Gun and Run as origin traits.
Most Legendary weapons added to the game during and after the launch of The Witch Queen have an origin trait. Some older weapons have been given origin traits, such as weapons dropped from Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit; or older weapons that have been re-issued with new perk pools. However, this only applies to new copies of these weapons. Older drops of these weapons did not have the origin traits retroactively applied to them. There are also some exceptions that do not have origin traits. For example, the Season of the Seraph re-issue of Rose had a Grip perk socket instead of an origin trait. Some Exotic weapons, such as Revision Zero, also have origin traits.
Armor Traits
Armor 1.0
Non-Exotic Armor Traits are deprecated. These traits provided extra stats and functionality. These have been mostly replaced with the Armor Mods system.
Exotic Armor
Exotic Armor has an intrinsic trait which gives it the utility it is known for.
