The Dawning 2023

The Dawning 2023 is the Dawning Live Event for Year 6, taking place during the Season of the Wish. It will last from December 12, 2023, to January 2, 2024.

Overview

Eva Levante is the event vendor, found in the Tower.

The Dawning quest introduces players to the event. Players will obtain Eva's Holiday Oven 2.0, allowing them to bake cookies using ingredients obtained by defeating different types of enemies in various ways throughout the game, with Essence of Dawning being earned from completing activities. These cookies can be given to certain vendors in exchange for Dawning Spirit, random gear drops, and possibly A Gift in Return.

Snowballs will drop when defeating enemies in Vanguard Ops and patrol zones. They can be picked up and thrown, dealing Stasis damage. Eva sells upgrades for Dawning Spirit that improve the snowballs' effectiveness.

Exclusive Dawning weapons can be obtained by completing certain Event Challenges. After unlocking the required upgrades from Eva, A Gift in Return and Dawning Spirit can be used to purchase Festive Engrams, which each drop a random Dawning weapon, or focus specific weapons if they have been acquired previously.

A new Memento, the Dawning Memento, is now available, exclusive to the event. It can be obtained by completing the Winter Night quest from Eva. Additional copies can be earned by opening A Gift in Return.

Event Card

The Event Card can be accessed from the Quests tab in the Director next to the Seasonal Challenges. It can also be found on Eva Levante's vendor screen, or through the Tower icon on the Destinations map in the Director.

Event Challenges

Event Challenges can be completed to earn various rewards, including Dawning weapons, cosmetic items, Masterwork materials, and Event Tickets. Event Tickets can only be used on the upgraded Event Card, and expire when the event ends.

Upgraded Event Card

Players can spend 1,000 Silver to upgrade their Event Card, unlocking access to several cosmetic items. This immediately grants the Dawning Event Pack, which contains the following items:

• Angelic Wings (Exotic Emote);
• Frostflower (Exotic Sparrow);
• Dawning Élan (Legendary Shader).

Upgrading the Event Card also allows players to use the Event Tickets earned from Event Challenges to purchase the following exclusive rewards:

• Ornamental Shell (Exotic Ghost Shell) — 7;
• Slippery Patch (Legendary Emote) — 5;
• Festive Entrance (Legendary Transmat Effect) — 2;
• Tundra Guide (Legendary Ghost Projection) — 1.

Star Baker Title

Completing all 16 Event Challenges will complete the Star Baker Triumph seal, unlocking the title of the same name. Four additional Triumphs must be completed to gild the title. Gilding resets annually.

Reveler Title

Completing 16 Event Challenges during The Dawning events will complete the associated Triumph for the Reveler Triumph seal. Completing all four Triumphs (including those for Guardian Games, Solstice, and Festival of the Lost) will unlock the title of the same name.

Patch History

  • Fixed an issue where the Event Card was showing the incorrect remaining time for the Dawning event.
    • UNLISTED: The incorrect remaining time shown on the Event Card implied that the end date for the 2023 Dawning event was February 27, 2024 (the original launch date for The Final Shape before it was delayed). The actual end date for the event is January 2, 2024.
