Guardian Games
Guardian Games is a Live Event in Destiny 2.
Overview
Guardian Games is a three week-long spring event which replaces the Revelry starting from the Season of the Worthy. Eva Levante is the vendor of this event, she offers quests, bounties, event rewards and event class items. The player has to unlock the Tower to be able to participate in this event.
During the introduction quest, each player receives a special class item which allows them to generate and collect laurels. Enemies defeated with supers, grenades and melee abilities drop class laurels, which can be used to buy Contender Cards. Laurels drop in all activities except for Gambit and Crucible, where they are awarded after a match has ended. Unrecovered laurels do not go to the Postmaster and must be picked up to count. Contender Cards are special quests sold by Eva, they reward players with gold or platinum medals.
In the Season of the Chosen, laurels and medals are stored in the Medal Case found in the Quest inventory. Medals are obtained by completing activities, Triumphs and Contender Cards, and have to be deposited at the Guardian Games Podium located in the Tower Courtyard. Depositing medals increases the class' score and rewards the player with Legendary gear from the open world drop pool, Upgrade Modules, Enhancement Cores, as well as Shaders and Emblems from the last year's Guardian Games.
In the Season of the Worthy, players had to wear the event class item to be able to obtain and complete event bounties and medals. Medals used to be handed out by Eva, and had an objective which had to be completed before the medal could be deposited. Depositing medals awarded packages depending on the medal type, and increased the class' daily score.
The Guardian Games Podium contains three receptacles with three banners over them, representing each of the three classes. Players deposit medals into their class' receptacle to raise their banner. The Podium changes daily to reflect the current status of the leading team. Event class items change their color to show the class' current standing: gold for first, silver for second, and bronze for the third place. When Guardian Games end, the class item's appearance locks on the color that represents their overall score for the whole year.
Season of the Chosen introduced the Ceremony event, which becomes live on the Friday of each week during the Guardian Games. The week's winning class is determined during the ceremony, and players receive rewards and a glow that is active when in the Tower and remains until the next Ceremony event or until Guardian Games end.
