Sundered Doctrine is a dungeon introduced in Destiny 2 during Episode: Heresy. Set within The Sunken Pyramid in Court of Savathûn, players are tasked by The Hidden to investigate increased Dread and Hive activity, uncover the Pyramid’s secrets, and stop a new Dread leader from unlocking its deepest vault.

Find the Path
Navigate downward through tight spaces to a large, cross-shaped room with more enemies. Clear the area and locate a small waterfall on the right side from the entrance. Pass through the waterfall to access a tunnel leading to the first encounter, marked by a damaging light beam and a Raid Banner.
Solve the Riddle (Flooded Inspection)
Mechanics
- Identify the Symbol: Either use lore knowledge (for example Guardian, Kill, Witness completes "Guardians killed the Witness") or defeat a Truthspeaker Grim in one of the four rooms to reveal the missing symbol.
- Locate the Wheel: Find the room with a wheel displaying the correct symbol.
- Create a Light Path: Shoot a Pyramid switch above one of the three central lenses to activate a light beam. Defeat a Lens Bearer Subjugator to obtain a lens, place it in an empty holster, and rotate it to direct the beam toward the target wheel. Typically, 2-3 lenses are needed per path.
- Progression: Complete one beam in the first round, two in the second, and three in the third. A new Truthspeaker spawns after each beam completion in rounds two and three. Incorrect beams spawn a Tormentor and break placed lenses.
Upon completing six total beam connections, a notification (“The Pyramid accepts a truth”) signals the encounter’s end, opening a door to the next area.
- Maze Path: At the first junction, turn right and go straight to the end. Drop down, turn right, take the first left up stairs, and follow the path to exit.
- Secret Chest: Destroy three Resonance crystals (audible humming) in the maze to unlock a hidden door with the first secret chest.
Exit the maze into a large open area with enemies. Cross a bridge to the right, enter a dark hallway, and take the second left exit to drop through a hole. This leads to a room with a pit and rolling spiked boulders. Use alcoves on either side to avoid the first boulder, then jump into a hole halfway up the ramp. Navigate crisscrossing boulders in the next hallway to reach the second encounter’s preparatory room.

Mechanics
- Wheel Activation: Shriekers gaze at wheels from left to right, filling the Lockset Progression bar (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%). At each quarter, the rightmost unlocked wheel’s symbol locks into a large panel, executed from right to left.
- Symbol Effects:
- Symbol Manipulation: Defeat Preceptors to collect Resonance Splinters. Deposit splinters to rotate symbols (as above). Shoot Cruxes to change rotation direction. Wheels tick automatically if untouched, so monitor them.
- Strategy: Set the rightmost three wheels to Stop to minimize enemies, and the leftmost to Kill for the longest damage phase. Avoid Hive to prevent Ogre spawns.
Damage Phase
When Kill is locked, the damage phase begins. Focus fire on any open Shrieker, as they share health. Safe spots include the left side near the platform for cover. Use Anarchy, Thunderlord, or Le Monarch for high damage, as Shriekers lack precision damage. If not defeated, repeat the mechanics. After defeating the Shriekers, shoot a dropped core into a concave bowl near the loot chest to open the exit.
Locate the Vault
The next room has a sealed door that opens when shot (rapid-fire weapons recommended). Pass through quickly to avoid being crushed. Ascend another worm carcass to the final encounter’s Raid Banner.
Kerrev, The Erased
Mechanics
- Truth and Lie: The wheel displays two three-symbol stories (for example Pyramid, Give, Darkness vs. Witness, Drink, Light). One is true, one false. Either use lore knowledge or defeat a Truthspeaker Grim (spawns in left or right room) to identify the true symbol’s side. Illuminate the three lie symbols and darken the true ones.
- Symbol Locations:
- Lens Manipulation: Defeat Unwritten Attendants to gain Unwritten Empowerment (7 seconds), allowing destruction of Strand tethers locking lenses. Free and rotate lenses to shine beams on lie symbols and avoid true ones.
- Activation: Once correct symbols are lit, interact with the central wheel’s console. The room ignites with a burning effect; take cover (for example back-left corner) to survive. If correct, Kerrev’s shield drops.
Damage Phase
Kerrev moves rapidly, using Strand pulls and suspends. Use Divinity with Linear Fusion Rifles (Sleeper Simulant, Queensbreaker) or Thunderlord for high damage. Stay in cover to avoid pulls. If not defeated, the shield regenerates, and a new truth/lie puzzle appears. Repeat until Kerrev is defeated.

- First Worm: In the maze, near a Resonance crystal.
- Second Worm: In the boulder gauntlet, in an alcove.
- Third Worm: In the worm carcass tunnel, on a ledge.
- Completing the quest opens the vault behind Kerrev, revealing a chest and a Memory of Oryx message.
Rewards
Each encounter drops specific loot, farmable unlimited times except for Finality's Auger, which is limited to one chance per character per week. Armor from Master difficulty includes the Artifice Armor perk.

Notes
- Sundered Doctrine is the first dungeon to feature The Dread and the sixth to include Hive.
- In the first encounter area, a hallway near the initial light beam leads to a room displaying Vow of the Disciple symbol names when approached.
- The vault behind Kerrev, The Erased contains the chisel Oryx used to carve the Tablets of Ruin, accessible after completing The Drowning Labyrinth.
