Recoil

Recoil is the movement of a weapon — usually a kick upward together with a drift to the side — that occurs each time a round is fired. In Destiny 2, recoil has two parts: how far the weapon kicks (its magnitude) and the direction the kick travels.
- The magnitude of the kick is reduced by a weapon's Stability stat.
- The direction and consistency of the kick are governed by the Recoil Direction stat (shown in-game as a weapon's recoil value). A higher Recoil Direction makes recoil more vertical and predictable.
Higher zoom optics also reduce the angular recoil seen through the sight, which is one reason long-range scopes help on weapons such as Pulse Rifles.
