Region Chests

Region Chests‏‎ are chests that you can find while on patrol. These chests will have Regional tokens (usually 3), Glimmer, and a possibility of finding an engram or class relic. They can be found by going to the cross symbols that are on your map. Note that Region Chests DO NOT respawn once they are opened. They are tracked per-character/class, and there are a total of 56 Region Chests.

They are similar to Gold Chests of Destiny 1.

Region Chests in Mercury

Lighthouse

Near Brother Vance is a book with a glowing 'Sign of Osiris' (Region chest symbol) on it. Interact with this book and it starts a timed event where you must interact with the other glowing books in the correct order.
The next if you are looking at the portal out of the Lighthouse is on the far left in a bookshelf on the wall.
To the right of the entrance is a lit brazier. Book 3 is to the right of that on a small shelf about knee height.
Book 4 is back by where you grabbed the second book, across from it on the table next to a studying follower of Osiris.
The last book is on the other side of the room past book 3. It is just to the right of the 12 pointed design with the eye on it. To get it you must look up high on the bookshelf. It is easiest to grab by jumping on the books sticking out next to it and crouching.
Lastly, you will see the message 'Decryption conflux activated.' Back near the 4th book in the sunken channel you will see a Vex-like conflux that you must interact with.
Now you will see the message 'Firewall deactivated' and the chest will be marked on your HUD. In addition to Region Tokens, this chest seems to always contain a Legendary Engram.

Lighthouse Exterior

From the arrival point, look at the portal into the Lighthouse and then turn right. Follow the curve of the tower around and the chest will be in plain sight.
Note that approaching the chest may cause a Major Colossus to spawn.

East and West Towers

These Region Chests can only be accessed as part of the Vex Crossroads Public Event. Only one Region Chest can be accessed per event.
After launching across to the towers, defeat the Gatekeeper as normal. When the Gatekeeper is defeated, a strange floating Vex object will spawn behind the tower. If it is not destroyed quickly it will despawn and the window of opportunity will close.
Destroy the object to spawn a platform. Jump across to the platform; another floating object will spawn. Continue moving between platforms and destroying floating objects until you reach the top of the tower;
- On the Eastern Tower, the region chest is on ground level near an inactive Vex gate.
- On the Western Tower, the region chest is high up on an incomplete archway.
In addition, at the top of the tower is a capturable pad. Capturing this will activate the Crossroads Event's Heroic Mode.

Far South

Facing the entrance to the Infinite Forest, look to your right. You'll need to scale the sloped face of the structure, up the metal and stone outcroppings.
Mobility bonuses are helpful but not essential. You may want to change jump type and experiment to see which works best.
The Region Chest is located in a small nook. on the left side. It won't be visible as you're climbing up.

Region Chests in EDZ

Firebase Hades

On the southern side of Pillar Cargo Bay (West), near the ramp to the Lost Sector, there is a region chest. It is located in a tunnel entrance above a gantry platform.
There is a region chest on the northern edge of the wooded area, east of the main road. It is on the edge of a cliff, overlooking the main arena.
Inside the Pillar Control Room, find the chamber with the hologram in the center. Then, look up and jump on the gantry that runs around the entire room. A region chest can be found in one of the alcoves there.

Outskirts

Under the bridge in the southern portion of the Sector, players will find a small cave entrance. Go in and explore it to find a region chest.
Northwest of the Fountain Plaza, there is a half-ruined multi-story building. Get to its top floor for a region chest.
By the road to Trostland, players will find a storefront area. In a back room in that area, there is a region chest.

Sunken Isles

A region chest can be found on the northernmost island. It is guarded by some Fallen enemies. Beware of the toughened Vandal, since it can prove to be quite a challenge for some players.
Near the entrance to Skydock IV, there is a region chest hidden behind come cargo crates.
South of the carrier ramp, there is a region chest on the rocks. Look carefully, because it is all the way west, next to the exterior wall of the carrier bay itself.

The Gulch

Following the cliff face northeast of the Exit to The Tunnels, players will come across a cave at ground level. Just above it, there is another small cave with a region chest inside.
Taking the south path slightly east of the Ruined Overpass, and exploring further to the southeast, players will find a region chest.
Above the entrance to the Lost Sector, there is a small cave. It can be accessed from the side path east of the Ruined Overpass and it holds a region chest.

The Sludge

A region chest can be found on the southwestern end of the Sector.To reach it, make your way inside the perimeter wall via a flooded interior ramp.
East of the Landing Zone in the sector, there is a region chest behind the waterfall.
Inside the northern buildings in the East Yard, there is an overgrown upper level. On it, players will find a region chest.

Trostland

Just north of the road towards Outskirts, there is a multi-floor building that players can enter. On the upper floor, there is a region chest.
South of the road to Outskirts, near the very edge of the Sector, players can find a region chest tucked away behind some ivy.

Winding Cove

A region chest can be found at the northern edge of the Wooded Ledge, by the crashed spaceship.
Below the bridge of the Main Road, south of the Wooded Ledge, there is a region chest to be found.
A tiny island way south of The Beach holds a region chest for players to find.

Region Chests in Titan

Giant's Scar

A region chest can be found inside Small Cave (West). It is hidden behind one of the far rock pillars.
A very well-hidden region chest can be located on one of the massive drill supports (the one pointing west). Some jumping will be required to reach it.
In the South Area, there is a region chest on top of the cylindrical tower.

Lost Oasis

Just north of the western exit to The Rupture, players can find a region chest in a cave to the west.
Inside the tunnels under the Main Mesa Plateau, players can find a region chest. It is located at the eastern end of the tunnels.
Inside the giant Dead Tree on the eastern side of the Sector, there is a region chest halfway up the hollow trunk.

The Rupture

Go halfway down the North Road and begin climbing the Vex Pyramid. When you get to a Vex teleporter, look across from it for an orange-hued platform. Just behind it and slightly to the left, there is a small ledge with a region chest.
Follow the same instructions as with the first region chest until you reach the teleporter. Then, look for a purple-hued room. On its other side, there is a region chest on the exterior of the structure.
A region chest can be found inside the tunnel under the eastern mesa.

Region Chests in Nessus

Artifact's Edge

One region chest can be found almost straight north of the Landing Zone. It is hidden behind a low plateau rock.
A region chest can be found midway between the Crash Site and the Rocky Junction. It is partially hidden behind a white cubic rock.
A region chest can be located directly west of the Crash Site, near the edge of the bottomless pit. It is on the golden Vex-like structure there.

Exodus Black (Sector)

North of the Fallen Base, players can find a large natural rock formation. Behind one of the rocks, there is a region chest.
Southeast of the Fallen Base, there is a very high plateau. Reaching its top will award players with a region chest.
Inside the tunnel system on the eastern side of the Sector, there is a region chest. It is inside a narrow alcove in the main chamber.

Glade of Echoes

There is a region chest to be found on top of the Upper Plateau (North).
On the eastern side of the Main Thoroughfare, in one of the stacked cargo containers, players can find a region chest.
Southeast of the Southeast Blocks, in the very corner of the sector, there is a region chest at ground level. It is hidden in the dark.

Hallows

A region chest can be found just off the road towards Watcher's Grave. It is hidden among some tree branches, west of the main road.
Just northeast of the drop towards Artifact's Edge, players can find a region chest. It is located on a ceiling alcove.
On the perimeter of the hole towards Artifact's Edge, players can find a region chest. It is hidden on a ledge on the southwest side of the pit.

The Cistern

A region chest is hidden inside the remains of a Vex globe. It's located on the northwestern shore of the Northwestern Promontory.
Around midway through the Main Thoroughfare, there is a very tall Vex structure. Climbing it will award players with a region chest.
Just north of the Landing Zone, on the eastern edge of the Sector, players can find a region chest hidden in the Overhang.

The Tangle

A region chest can be found by climbing the Mighty Tree in the southeast portion of the Sector. The chest will be on one of its branches.
One region chest is located above the northern crevasse entrance.
There is a Vex tower near the Hydra lair in the northern portion of the Sector. Halfway up that tower, a region chest can be found.

Watcher's Grave

A region chest can be found below the Watcher's Arena Eye. It is located on top of one of the pillars in the area, well above the Hydra lurking below.
South of the East Promontory, on the side of these rock formations that is facing away from the arena, a region chest can be found.
Crossing the Mist Pillars and reaching the furthest one will award players with a region chest.
