Bright Dust is an Eververse currency in Destiny 2.

Unlike Silver1.png Silver, which is a premium Eververse currency purchased with real money, Bright Dust is obtainable through gameplay.

Acquisition

Bright Dust can be obtained from the following sources:

Certain Seasonal Challenges will reward Bright Dust in amounts of 75, 150, or 300, usually in proportion to the amount of Challenger XP rewarded and the overall difficulty of the objective. All of these challenges can be completed in free-to-play activities, excluding those that must be done in Trials of Osiris which requires the most recent expansion to access. The total amount that can be earned from completing challenges is 6,000. New challenges become available to complete at the start of each week of the season, up to Week 10, and remain available until the end of the current season. Each season features a challenge (listed under "Seasonal" in the Seasonal Challenges menu) that rewards a Large Bright Dust Pile icon.jpg Large Bright Dust Pile, which is worth 4,000. This challenge requires the player to complete the majority of the season's challenges. Despite the challenge's description specifying that "all" challenges must be completed, the amount required is often less than the actual total, allowing some to be skipped.[1]

The seasonal rewards track contains several Bright Dust rewards. The player's seasonal rank can be increased by gaining Experience. The free track usually contains about 7,500 total Bright Dust, while the paid track, which requires Season Pass ownership, contains about 3,000 total. These rewards are available to earn until the end of the season.[1]

Eververse Engram icon.png Eververse Engrams can randomly drop "Gift of Bright Dust" items that will automatically convert into a certain amount of Bright Dust: a Small Gift of Bright Dust icon.jpg Small Gift of Bright Dust is worth 250, a Medium Gift of Bright Dust icon.jpg Medium Gift of Bright Dust is worth 500, and a Large Bright Dust Pile icon.jpg Huge Gift of Bright Dust is worth 1,000.

The weekly challenges from Commander Zavala, Lord Shaxx, and the Drifter reward 120 Bright Dust each, and can be completed once per character. Each challenge requires the player to complete 8 of the vendor's bounties (either daily or repeatable). Additional bounties purchased from Zavala, Shaxx, Drifter, or Eva Levante (during holiday Live Events) will each reward 10 Bright Dust.

During holiday events, Eva Levante will usually sell two weekly bounties that reward 200 Bright Dust each. Completing both bounties on all three characters in a week will earn 1,200 total. Events occur once per season, lasting three weeks. These events include Guardian Games in the spring, Solstice in the summer, Festival of the Lost in the fall, and the Dawning in the winter.

Usage

Bright Dust is used to purchase cosmetic items from the Eververse store. Each week, a limited selection of items are made available for purchase with Bright Dust. 5 rotating items are displayed in the lower-left corner of the front page, while 14 rotating items appear under the "Bright Dust" tab. Bright Dust item rotations are pre-determined at the start of each season, with many items only being available for purchase in a given week. Some items may return in future seasons, but this is not guaranteed.

Weekly item rotations during holiday Live Events often feature items exclusive to those events. Universal Armor Ornament sets released during holiday events (including those from previous years) can be purchased as Packages during those events for either Silver1.png Silver or Bright Dust. These sets are only available for purchase while the event is active, and can be found under the "Events" tab.

Non-cosmetic Bright Dust items include Concentrated Mattergem icon.jpg Concentrated Mattergems and Glimmershard icon1.jpg Glimmershards. These consumable items are always available for purchase.
