Description Blitz the BrayTech Futurescape campus on Mars to repossess fragments of the submind Charlemagne's code.

Heist Battleground: Mars is a three-player matchmade Arena activity introduced in the Season of the Seraph. It was part of the Heist Battlegrounds playlist and could be launched as a mission from the Savathûn's Throne World map during the season. The activity takes place in the BrayTech Futurescape, a location on Mars caught in temporal rifts after its return by The Witness. Guardians, assisted by Osiris, Ana Bray, Elisabeth Bray, Clovis Bray, Mara Sov, and later Rasputin, aim to secure the submind Charlemagne's data before Xivu Arath's forces can claim it.

With the release of Lightfall on February 28, 2023, most Year 5 seasonal content was removed and added to the Destiny Content Vault. The Heist Battlegrounds missions, including Mars, were preserved and integrated into the Vanguard Ops strike playlist. They can no longer be launched as individual missions through the Director and are only accessible when randomly selected by the playlist.

Walkthrough

The Heist Battleground: Mars begins on the access ramp to BrayTech Futurescape. The fireteam must progress through several objectives to reach the submind vault and defeat the boss, Darkblade Kelgorath, Risen from Bones.

Activate Escalation Nodes

Upon spawning, clear initial waves of Hive enemies, including Acolytes and Thrall, near the landing pad. The objective is to bring three Escalation Nodes online, reminiscent of the Escalation Protocol event. Each node is covered in "Hive Gunk," which must be shot off to activate it. After clearing the gunk, stand within the node's capture zone to progress its activation. Be cautious of spawning Hive and Taken enemies, including a Deathtongue Chorister—a glowing Hive Acolyte that spawns near a Hive totem. Kill the Chorister quickly to prevent it from activating the totem, which disables player abilities until the Chorister is defeated. Unstoppable Champions may spawn at 25% and 50% node progress, so equip appropriate anti-Champion mods. Clear all three nodes (A, B, and C) while managing enemy waves and avoiding Seraph Tower beams that can kill players if spotted for 15 seconds. Use cover to break line-of-sight with the towers.

Navigate BrayTech Futurescape

After activating the nodes, proceed toward the BrayTech facility. Navigate the campus edges to reach higher levels, avoiding defense beams by timing movements and using obstacles for cover. The path involves platforming across pipes, narrow walkways, and Hive gunk. Look for subtle visual cues, as the route is not always obvious. Clear waves of Hive and Taken enemies, including Barrier Champions, as you ascend. At the top, a vault door guarded by Hive enemies awaits. Defeat these enemies to gain access to the interior.

Enter the Submind Vault

Inside the facility, confront a Hive-sealed vault door. To unlock it, collect PDT Refraction Cores from enemies in the left and right passageways. These cores are used to fire a laser that breaks the Hive seals and chains on the door. Up to three seals can be destroyed with a single core if aimed carefully. Enemies, including Taken, will spawn from the central tunnel and rush the door, so assign a fireteam member to clear these adds while others retrieve cores. Be cautious of platforming hazards, as falls can be fatal. Once all seals are destroyed, the door opens, leading to the boss arena.

Defeat Darkblade Kelgorath

The final encounter pits the fireteam against Darkblade Kelgorath, Risen from Bones, a Darkblade Knight. Kelgorath wields a massive cleaver and can go invisible, making him a formidable opponent. Deal damage while managing waves of Hive and Taken adds, including Barrier and Unstoppable Champions. At 50% health, Kelgorath gains an immune shield. To break it, defeat marked enemies to obtain Charges (PDT Refraction Cores) and deposit them into the central device. This removes the shield, allowing further damage. Repeat this process if the shield reappears. Watch for Kelgorath's melee attacks and area-of-effect abilities, and stay mobile to avoid being cornered. Once defeated, two chests spawn: a standard chest that opens automatically and a Seraph Chest requiring 500 Seraph Key Codes to unlock, offering seasonal gear like Warmind's Avatar armor and updated Warmind weapons.
