Armor Mods are items in Destiny 2.

Note: Armor Mods were reworked significantly at the start of Year 2. As a result, all non-Raid-related Year 1 Armor Mods have been deprecated.

Overview

Armor Mods are an item type that can be applied to various armors in Destiny 2. These can give various new effects to a piece of gear or boost existing ones. These can range from lowering cooldown times to improving your weapons' behavior in the field.

Most armor mods are obtained from Gunsmith Engrams, which are rewarded for increasing your reputation with the Gunsmith Faction; from Bright Engrams, which can be bought with Silver or earned for every 120k experience accumulated past the Level cap; or from mod purchases within Banshee-44's shop. Additionally, three identical Rare mods can be traded in to Banshee-44 for a single Legendary mod of the same type.

The remaining armor mods, all Legendary mods which are exclusive to armor pieces obtained from Raids or Raid-related sources (Imperial Engrams and Benedict 99-40), can be equipped onto these pieces at will for 1 Emperor Calus Token per mod equipped. While most armor mods always apply their effects while equipped, the unique effects bestowed by these mods are only active within Raids.
