Barrier Champions are elite enemies in Destiny 2 that appear in high-level PvE activities. These Champions deploy impenetrable dome shields when damaged and begin regenerating health, requiring Anti-Barrier weapons or abilities to stun and defeat them effectively.

Overview

Barrier Champions represent one of three Champion types introduced in Shadowkeep, designed to add mechanical complexity to endgame content. They force players to adapt their loadouts and coordinate with teammates, as their shields cannot be broken through conventional damage.

Mechanics

Shield Deployment

  • Activates at ~1/3 health lost
  • Creates impenetrable bubble
  • Blocks all non-Anti-Barrier damage
  • Visible dome effect

Health Regeneration

  • Begins immediately upon shield activation
  • Rapid health recovery
  • Can restore to 100% if not interrupted
  • Continues until stunned

Stun Mechanics

  • Anti-Barrier damage pierces shield
