Prismatic Recaster is an Umbral Research vendor in the Season of Arrivals.

Location

Prismatic Recaster can be found in the Tower Annex, in the Drifter's room.

It is unlocked during the In the Face of Darkness quest.

Umbral Research Rank

By injecting Twisted Energy into the Recaster, the player increases their Umbral Research rank, which gives them a reward Umbral Engram and allows them to receive a Gift of Light & Dark. The player has to reach a certain Umbral Research rank to be able to buy items sold by the Recaster.

  • Mods sold in this slot are on a daily rotation: Charge Harvester > Lucent Blade > Supercharged > Argent Ordnance > Radiant Light > Kindling the Flame > Surprise Attack > Reactive Pulse.
• Rank 3: Swift Charge — 3 Mod Components;
• Rank 5:Precision Charge — 3 Mod Components;
• Rank 7: Trace Override — cost increases with each purchase and resets weekly: the first Override costs 5, subsequent purchases take 10, 15, 25 and 45.
  • It is possible to buy only 5 Trace Overrides in a single week.

Umbral Affinity

The Prismatic Recaster has two vendor subscreens.

Umbral Focusing

Main page: Umbral Engram

Umbral Focusing allows the player to focus their ordinary Umbral Engrams to choose their contents. Focusing Umbral Engrams consumes Altered Element.

Basic Umbral Focusing divides the Engram's contents into five categories: Arrivals weapons, Arrivals armor, weapons from three previous seasons, reissued weapons from Gambit and the Reckoning, and reissued weapons from Vaulted destinations. First three Basic Focuses per week do not consume Altered Element, the rest take 50 for each Engram.

Improved Arsenal Focusing further breaks down the selection into ten categories, each contains two possible weapon drops. Each Focus consumes 100 Altered Element.

Improved Armor Focusing guarantees that the focused Engram will contain a piece of armor with at least 10 points in the chosen stat. Each Focus consumes 250 Altered Element and 1 Trace Override.

Gifts of Light & Dark

Gifts of Light & Dark give players benefits tied to Umbral Engrams, their focusing, and the Contact Public Event. The player has to acquire all Gifts in a rank row to unlock the next row.

	Umbral Enhancement I
	Unlocks basic Umbral Focusing capabilities for the Prismatic Recaster. Season of Arrivals Pass owners unlock new seasonal Legendary weapons from Umbral Engrams and have access to Pyramid-Focused Umbral Engrams under basic Umbral Focusing.
	Umbral Discovery I
	Once a day, earn a bonus Umbral Engram by completing a playlist strike, Nightfall: The Ordeal, Crucible or Gambit match, dungeon, raid, or Menagerie activity.
	Contact Specialist I
	Slightly increases the chance of finding Umbral Engrams by successfully completing Contact public events.
	Prismatic Transmutation I
	Umbral Engrams awarded from successful Heroic Contact public event completions gain a 5% chance to transform into a random Focused Umbral Engram.
	Blood into Stone I
	Defeating Elite or Champion combatants with finishers has a 5% chance to drop material from that destination.
	Free-Focus Lens I
	Increase the quantity of free weekly focuses for basic Umbral Focusing to 4.
	Umbral Mastery I
	Umbral Surge: Decrypting Umbral Engrams injects a small amount of Twisted Energy directly into the Prismatic Recaster. The first 3 Umbral Engrams decrypted each week award gear at higher Power.
Rank II
	Umbral Enhancement II
	The Prismatic Recaster influences the behavior of Umbral Engrams and Twisted Energy. Decrypting any Umbral Engram now provides shaders, and unfocused Umbral Engrams gain a low chance to award Exotic gear. Earning Twisted Energy immediately injects it into the Prismatic Recaster.
	Umbral Discovery II
	Increase the Umbral discovery bonus to 2 times a day.
	Contact Specialist II
	Moderately increases the chance of finding Umbral Engrams by successfully completing Contact public events.
	Prismatic Transmutation II
	Increase the chance that Umbral Engrams awarded from successful Heroic Contact public event completions transform into a random Focused Umbral Engram to 10%.
	Blood into Stone II
	Defeating Elite or Champion combatants with finishers has a 10% chance to drop material from that destination.
	Free-Focus Lens II
	Increase the quantity of free weekly focuses for basic Umbral Focusing to 5.
	Umbral Mastery II
	Contact Mastery: Increases Mote carrying limit from 10 to 15 while participating in the Contact public event. When banking 15 Motes at once, spawn a Heavy ammo crate if one hasn't been deployed recently.
Rank III
	Umbral Enhancement III
	Weapons obtained from Focused Umbral Engrams drop with an additional alternate final perk. Armor obtained from Focused Umbral Engrams has a chance to drop with a higher stat value.
	Umbral Discovery III
	Increase the Umbral discovery bonus to 3 times a day.
	Contact Specialist III
	Substantially increases the chance of finding Umbral Engrams by successfully completing Contact public events.
	Prismatic Transmutation III
	Increase the chance that Umbral Engrams awarded from successful Heroic Contact public event completions transform into a random Focused Umbral Engram to 15%.
	Blood into Stone III
	Defeating Elite or Champion combatants with finishers has a 15% chance to drop material from that destination.
	Free-Focus Lens III
	Increase the quantity of free weekly focuses for basic Umbral Focusing to 6.
	Umbral Mastery III
	Focus Mastery: Reduce the cost of all focusing by 50%.
