Puny Purse of Imperials was a Legendary Redeemable item in Destiny 2 that contained Imperials, the primary currency used during Season of Opulence.

Overview
The Puny Purse of Imperials was a currency of the Cabal Empire that provided players with 150 Imperials when redeemed[1]. It was introduced during Season 7, Season of Opulence: Penumbra on May 31, 2019[2].
Acquisition
Players could obtain Puny Purse of Imperials from multiple sources during Season of Opulence:
- Weekly Bounties - Werner 99-40 and Benedict 99-40's four weekly Calus bounties, which also offered a powerful reward and a rune for the Chalice of Opulence[3]
- Spoils of War Quest - The Puny Purse of Imperials was also a reward from the Benedict quest called "Spoils of War," along with a Legendary Rune and a map to a chest containing Powerful Gear[4]
Purpose
Imperials were the main currency used during Season of Opulence to upgrade the Chalice of Opulence, a special item that allowed players to customize their gear drops in the Menagerie activity. The Chalice of Opulence required Imperials to:
- Unlock new rune slots
- Increase rewards quality
- Customize gear drops in the Menagerie
- Access additional features and bonuses
Removal from Game
The Puny Purse of Imperials was deleted from the game on November 9, 2020[5], as Season of Opulence content was eventually vaulted when Destiny 2 transitioned to its content vault system during Beyond Light.
Legacy
While the Puny Purse of Imperials is no longer obtainable, it represented an important part of Season of Opulence's gameplay loop. The system of earning currency through bounties to upgrade seasonal artifacts would become a recurring mechanic in future Destiny 2 seasons, though with different implementations and currencies.
Trivia
- The name "Puny Purse" was likely a humorous reference to the relatively small amount of Imperials (150) it contained, especially considering the large amounts needed for Chalice upgrades
- Despite being called "puny," these purses were one of the primary sources of Imperials for players during the season
