Ignite is a Solar 3.0 verb that causes targets to explode in a damaging Solar blast. Introduced with the Solar 3.0 rework, Ignite serves as a powerful area-of-effect mechanic that rewards building up Scorch stacks on enemies.

Overview

Ignite represents the explosive culmination of Solar damage buildup, creating chain reactions that can clear groups of enemies. When a target accumulates 100 Scorch stacks or is affected by specific abilities, they detonate in an 8-meter radius explosion that damages nearby enemies and can trigger additional Solar effects.

Triggering Ignition

Scorch Accumulation

The primary method of causing Ignition:

  • Apply 100 total Scorch stacks to any target
  • Multiple sources can contribute to the stack count
  • Stacks from different Guardians combine
  • Visual indicator shows stack buildup

Direct Ignition

Certain abilities bypass the stacking requirement:

  • Specific Aspect abilities
  • Select Exotic weapon perks
  • Enhanced melee abilities
  • Super ability effects

Mechanics

Damage Calculation

  • Base damage scales with target's maximum health
  • Explosion radius: 8 meters (default)
  • Damage type inherits from first Scorch source
  • Can trigger weapon and ability perks

Scorch Mechanics

Understanding Scorch is crucial for Ignitions:

  • Application: 5-60 stacks per source
  • Tick Rate: Damages every 0.5 seconds
  • Duration: 4.5 seconds (PvE) / 2 seconds (PvP)
  • Decay: Stacks decrease without reapplication
  • Cap: 100 stacks triggers Ignition
