Harsh Refraction is an Artifact Perk.
Acquisition
Unlocked on tier 4 of the Tablet of Ruin Seasonal Artifact during Episode: Heresy.
Added to the artifact in Act 2 of Episode: Heresy.
Usage
Trace Rifles deal increased damage to targets afflicted by elemental debuffs matching their element type. For example, a Strand Trace Rifle deals more damage to targets affected by Sever or Unravel, while a Void Trace Rifle deals more damage to targets affected by Weaken or Volatile.
Damage Bonuses
- Legendary Trace Rifles: 50% increased damage
- Exotic Trace Rifles: 35% increased damage
- Microcosm: 20% increased damage if any debuff is on the target
Synergies
- Works especially well with Elemental Siphon from the same artifact for creating elemental pickups
- Pairs with subclass builds that can consistently apply matching elemental debuffs
- Stacks multiplicatively with other damage buffs and debuffs
- Synergizes with Beam Medic for trace rifle-focused builds
Notes
- The damage bonus requires the trace rifle's element to match the debuff on the target
- Microcosm, being the only Kinetic Trace Rifle, has special interaction rules
- Part of the trace rifle-focused perks added in Act 2 of Episode: Heresy
- Considered essential for any trace rifle build in Episode: Heresy
