Usage

The Transponder does not go to the player's inventory, but activates a buff which lasts for 7 days or until the player obtains the Techno Squad Leader's augment. The buff also disappears on death or fast travel.

It is used to pick up the Scanner augment from the Techno Squad Leader which can be found in Europa Eclipsed Zone, usually protected by Servitors and Shanks. The augment buff has three stacks and specifies a certain sector connected to the Eclipsed Zone. The player has to carry the buff to the mentioned sector, locate three groups of scanner drones and destroy each in the order indicated by the yellow highlight. After destroying a group the player can hack a nearby terminal to remove a stack of the Scanner buff. Hacking three terminals gives the player a reward and an Augment triumph, which unlocks an entry from the Bray Lab Records - CONFIDENTIAL lore book.

When all of the Augment triumphs have been obtained, Variks will give the player an Ascendant Shard as a reward. He will also stop selling BrayTech Transponders.
