Acquisition
Unlocked on tier 4 of the Hunter's Journal Seasonal Artifact during Episode: Echoes.
Usage
While this perk is unlocked and you have Armor Charge, dealing damage with a Sword consumes an Armor Charge stack and empowers your Sword attacks. This empowerment provides both increased damage output and faster energy generation for your sword.
Empowerment Mechanics
- Requires at least one stack of Armor Charge to activate
- Consumes one Armor Charge stack when sword damage is dealt
- Provides a temporary buff to the sword with:
- Bonus damage to all sword attacks
- Increased energy charge rate for heavy attacks
- The empowerment duration is brief but impactful
Armor Charge Generation
To effectively use this perk, players need reliable sources of Armor Charge:
- Elemental Time Dilation mods
- Powerful Attraction mod
- Elemental Charge mods
- Orbs of Power with appropriate mods
- Various artifact perks that generate Armor Charge
Build Synergies
This perk excels in sword-focused builds:
- The Lament - The exotic sword's intrinsic healing and high damage pairs exceptionally well with the damage boost
- Falling Guillotine - The vortex frame sword benefits greatly from both the damage increase and energy generation
- Black Talon - The projectile attacks can trigger the empowerment from range
- Void builds - Particularly effective when combined with void damage perks and debuffs
Strategic Applications
- Boss DPS - The damage boost can significantly increase sword damage during DPS phases
- Major/Champion clearing - Empowered swords can quickly eliminate high-health targets
- Ammo efficiency - Faster energy generation means more heavy attacks without depleting ammo
- Aggressive playstyle - Rewards close-quarters combat with substantial damage increases
Comparison to Other Damage Perks
Argent Blade provides one of the stronger damage boosts available in the artifact:
- Competes with other tier 4 damage perks for selection
- Can potentially make swords competitive with other heavy weapons for DPS
- The requirement for Armor Charge adds a layer of build complexity but rewards preparation
Notes
- The perk only activates when dealing damage, not on sword swings that miss
- Works with all sword types including Caster, Adaptive, Aggressive, Lightweight, and Vortex frames
- The energy charge rate bonus affects the sword's heavy attack charge speed
- Particularly effective in activities where Armor Charge generation is plentiful
