Preparation

Recommended Power: 130+

Equipment recommendations:

  • Most of the mission will have you fighting Taken in confined spaces, but there will be occasional Taken Hobgoblins. Focus on mid- to long-range equipment.

Walkthrough

Head towards the objective marker on top of the Vex construction around the middle of the Sector. You will have some jumping to do to get there. Ignore the Vex in the sunken portions of the Pyramidion entrance and just climb up the structure. There are scannable objects and two region chests along the way, so keep your eyes open for those. Jump up to the ledges above you and to the north. At some point, you should come across a Taken Hobgoblin that you need to kill.

Jump across the two floating platforms and keep moving around the structure. Go around and up and expect a Taken Phalanx to attack you at some point. Keep following that path until you land inside the outer walls. There should be a Vex portal that you can reach with the help of a floating platform. Eliminate the Hobgoblin near it, then jump across and into the portal.

Once you come out at the other end, you will have a tough battle ahead. The first wave will consist of Taken Goblins, Hobgoblins, and Phalanxes. Leave the Phalanxes for last and start with the Goblins and Hobgoblins, engaging them from as far as possible. Once all foes are down, Taken Thralls will spawn. Dealing with them will make some more Goblins appear, as well as a Taken Centurion. Kill the Goblins before they manage to establish an energy link with anything. More Thralls, Hobgoblins, and some Taken Minotaurs will follow.

During the whole encounter, you should stay near the entrance of the room, as there is plenty of cover there and you will be able to keep your distance from the majority of enemies.

Once you're done clearing this area, the Boss Knight will disappear.

Carefully drop down back to The Rupture ground level, then head south towards The Endless Gate. You will encounter some Vex when entering the area. Eliminate them and move on and you will find yourself in the middle of a battle. Vex Minotaurs and Goblins will be fighting Taken Thralls and a Wizard. You can let the fight proceed without interfering to make clearing the area easier for yourself, but you want the Taken forces eliminated first. Keep in mind that the Wizard will probably have a Void Shield.

Proceed to the main chamber of The Endless Gate while keeping your eyes open for the Taken Thralls that will attack you. Once you deal with them, proceed with caution and take out the Taken Goblins along the way. Once you reach a bridge, be careful; there are two Taken Hobgoblins on either side. Eliminate them before they take a shot at you. There will also be a Taken Minotaur and some Phalanxes. Kill them as well.

Proceeding forward, you will find the Taken Boss Knight. Some Goblins have already established an energy link with him, so drop them first, then concentrate your fire on the Knight.

You can go up close and personal on the Goblins, but once they're down, back up at a safe distance. Backtracking to the other side of the bridge should stop the Knight and his henchmen from reaching you at close range. The Knight will summon four Acolyte's Eye turrets, so make sure you take care of those from as far as possible.

Utilize all available cover and focus your fire on the Knight once you've destroyed the turrets. Also, keep your eyes open for any Hobgoblins that might spawn. Keep your distance and keep your head down. If you do that, dodging the Knight's powerful attacks should be pretty straightforward.

Keep chipping away at the Knight's health. During the course of the battle, he will summon Goblins and Hobgoblins. Eliminate the Goblins first and do not allow them to establish a link with the Knight. If you have to get up close, stay mobile. Move in, take out some enemies, then jump back to safety. Grenades can be extremely helpful in this case.

When the Knight is near death, he will summon a Centurion and two Phalanxes on your side of the bridge, so be prepared. When the Knights drops, move in and clear any remaining foes.

Once the area is clear of threats, open fire at the rift inside the warpgate. Destroying it will complete this mission.
